Posted by: Nick on January 6th, 2010
Kevin Pearce one of the world’s top Super-Pipe riders crashed hard December 31st while attempting a double quark flip in the pipe at Park City, Utah.

He sustained severe traumatic brain injury and was flown to the University of Utah hospital for surgery. Kevin is now stable, however, he will have a long recovery.

An update from Kevin’s Get Well Facebook page states that he is showing signs that he is determined to get better.

Kevin Pearce, 22, is a two-time winner of the Arctic Challenge, a TTR World Tour Champion and a Two-Time Winter X Games silver medalist. Experts believe he is one of the only snowboarders who can challenge Shaun White in the 2010 Olympics.

Kevin is a proud snowboarder who puts the fun of snowboarding first. Whether in competition or just cruising the hill the love for the sport can always be seen with him.

The snowboard community has rallied together wishing him and his family well through this hard time. If you would like to wish Kevin well or stay up-to-date on his recovery please join his Facebook page: Well Wishes to our Frend Kevin Pearce

It’s great to hear Kevin’s doctor saying that he is slowly improving, regaining consciousness and responding to commands. We continue to pray for Kevin and his family. Two years ago a good friend of mine had an accident snowboarding in Alberta. There is a tragic side to the story but a very upbeat side to it as well.
